Primark's Ethic's in Question
Primark has once again come under fire for under-paying their workers. A recent investigation run by the Observer
found that one of their suppliers were paying illegal immigrant workers
in Manchester just over half the minimum wage, and the workers also
complained of working 12 hour days, 7 days a week. Primark say that
they are shocked by the news and are launching an investigation.
Primark have agreed to
remove any Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) branding from their tills
and website while ETI investigate these claims. Seems a bit odd, as
Primark have been subject to many of these investigations
with no such consequences from the ETI. So is this the straw that broke
the camel's back? Or is this being treated differently as it happened
in Britain? Thoughts?
Swish Sho
On the 29th of January, Daisy Green will be organising a 'swishing' event in Newcastle. For only £5 a ticket, you can swap good quality clothes with other fashionistas in the area, as well as enjoying wine, nibbles and competitions. Swishing is the latest trend for supporting the environment, your wardrobe and your bank balance all in one!
