BoBo Shoe Care

You have asked for advice about how to best care for your BoBo shoes, so on that note here we are with a few tips.

To ensure a long love affair with your shoes, we recommend regular care of them.

Clean and Polish
It is best to give your shoes a good clean with a shoe brush and wipe away any embedded dirt with a damp cloth.  Remove any shoelaces to clean the tongue thoroughly and to avoid staining them.  A pencil eraser can be used for lighter scuff marks.

Shine time! Apply polish evenly with a brush or soft cloth using a circular rubbing motion.   Once the polish has completely dried, buff the shoes using a polishing brush.  Note: Any off the shelf polish is suitable and choose one that best matches the colour of your shoes.

Faux suede

Your faux suede and nubuck shoes deserve special attention with regular cleaning and waterproofing.  Use a traditional suede eraser (brick of crumbly rubber) to rub away any blemishes and a suede brush to restore the nap of the fabric.  So they look their best, brush them before.

On the occasions they get wet (which in the UK is more often than not), stuff them with newspaper to keep their shape and dry them away from direct heat.  Any good cobbler on the high street will have a suede cleaner/protector.

Stay Well-heeled

Invest as much care in choosing a cobbler to re-sole or re-heel your shoes as you did in purchasing them.  It is best to have this work done before it is too late to prevent permanent damage.

Maintain the Shape

Shoe trees are great!  Store your shoes on them to maintain their shapes. Alternatively, stuff the toecap with newspaper or tissue. For boots, use boot shapers for the shaft and stuff the toe with newspaper.  It is best to pop your shoes on their shoe trees within an hour or two after you have removed them from your feet.

Salt Stains

The traditional remedy for road salt stains is a little vinegar and water, applied sparingly.

Canvas Shoes

Use a 50/50 mixture of water and lemon juice and for more serious stains, mix a tablespoon of baking soda with a little water and rub the sticky paste onto the offending areas.  Wipe dry.

A few more tips to extend the life of your shoes:

  • Rotate your shoes with another pair.
  • It is best to protect new shoes by spraying them with a water protector before wearing them for the first time.
  • For wet shoes, always allow your shoes to completely dry and follow with a waterproofing before wearing them again.

By following the above easy steps, you will ensure that long affair with your BoBo shoes.  If you should have any personal tips or further questions, do drop us a line we would love to hear from you.

Happy walking!
