Through renewing, stitching, and making, families can explore their creativity, share stories, and learn simple, hands-on techniques that bring old textiles and keepsakes back to life.
You will discover the history and beauty of the Japanese stitching art Sashiko — a traditional craft that celebrates creativity, mindfulness, and care for what we have.
Every workshop is about slowing down, enjoying the process, and learning how small stitches can make a big difference. Along the way, children explore how reusing and upcycling old fabric helps care for the planet — and how visible mending can be both fun and creative!

Workshop Details

Location: Your place or mine, you decide
In this 2-hour hands-on workshop, you’ll learn:
🪡 How to safely thread and use a Sashiko needle
🧵 Practice traditional Sashiko stitching techniques on fabric samplers
✨ Apply your new skills to a personal project: mend a piece of clothing, restore a keepsake, or design something entirely new
After learning the core techniques, you’ll choose your own creative project. The possibilities are endless — repair, renew, or reimagine. You decide what you’d like to make!
You’ll Take Home
Your stitched samplers and completed project piece
A Sashiko needle and thread kit for continued practice at home
A new creative skill — and the satisfaction of making something by hand
