HOW TO STRETCH SHOES

Stretching your shoes to make them fit your feet perfectly is an important step. Here are our top tips to speed up the process and make your first few walks go smoother.

USE A SPOON

Mimicking the effect of your foot, rub the back of a spoon on tight places like backs and straps to soften up your shoes before the first wear.

INVEST IN SHOE STRETCHERS

Shoes can easily be stretched using wooden stretchers. Before wearing your shoes for the first time, put the stretchers in and let them sit tight for a while. A budget alternative is to stuff your new shoes with newspaper.

LEAVE IT TO THE PROS

For a hands-free shoe stretching process, ask your local cobblers if they provide a breaking-in service. Some do, and it normally only takes a couple of days.
